This is where you can put pictures of your character throughout their life with little quotes to say what they were doing and suchlike. It's a photo album- keeping memories. Please only one book per character

This is where you can have scenes that happened to your character before the time of their entrance to the school. This can be a purely biographical thing or if it involves another character it can be an RP scene. As usual, write in the third person, past tense. | Platform Nine and Three Quarters
The Hogwarts Express is the train that takes the people of magical heritance to their school; Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For a new normal year, the train departs on the 1st of September at 11am on the dot.
The Platform can not be seen by muggles, as it is surrounded by a lot of magic all concealed. To arrive at this platform, people of magic heritance have to walk through the barrier between Platform 9 and 10.

| Hogwarts Express
This is the actual train that students board on every start of the year and at the end of the year. Also some times for their Christmas Holidays students board the train to take a journey to the muggle world or the magic.
Sweets are always sold on this train whenever students board. So keep those galleons and sickles with you!

| Hallways
The hallways around the school are usually quite dark, unless there is a window in them. They are stone, like everything else in the ancient school but you should be quiet around here, the portraits can listen to every word and gossip will spread like wildfire. This outside corridors around the courtyard are rather drafty, and brighter than the ones indoors.

| Dungeon Corridors
The corridors in the Dungeons are very different from those around the rest of the school. Cold, damp and grimy you, little light is here. Not a pleasant place to walk through, and even less so to travel through. To get to the dungeons you have to clamber down narrow, winding staircases.

| Detention Room
This is where all the bad kids go for detention. Torturing by thumbscrews and the Cruciatus curse are commonplace, for all those who don't fit in with the regime.
A horrible damp room, you can still hear the screams reverberating around the walls.

| Entrance Hall
Carniverous wooden doors open onto a huge hall, from which several staircases take you to different parts to the school. The doors to the Great Hall stand opposite the entrance, with the hourglasses for the house points to the left of them.

| The Great Hall
Double doors in the Entrance Hall lead to the Great Hall, which is a vast chamber with an enchanted ceiling that mirrors the sky outside. It contains the four house tables, lined vertically through the hall with the Teacher's table at the head. Very few celebrations are held here now, and the huge hole ripped in it's side is used for entrance by the owls.

| Staff Room
The Staff Room at Hogwarts leads off the Entrance Hall, guarded by two gargoyles. Inside it is comfortable, more so than anything the students stay in, and laughter can usually be heard from there. Refreshments are always there and staff come and go as they please, whereas all students are stopped, apart from a few of course...

| History of Magic
Not a particularly popular class at Hogwarts, History of Magic is fascinating for those who love the history of the world, and those who wish to have careers perhaps in magical law or journalism. It's classroom is old, and falling apart, but sunny and bright with large windows, and the teacher tries to bring the subject to life for the students who attend the class.
It was formerly taught by a ghost called Professor Binns, who just carried on teaching in an ultimately boring manner, not noticing he had died. However, the subject has now had somewhat of a makeover since the days of his droning monologues.

| Duelling
In this class students are taught the art of duelling. They will study the formalities of it, the proper etiquette and ways of flourishing the wand in a safe environment with a competent teacher, to make sure no accidents take place. a good subject to take for a laugh with friends, or as practical training for all kinds of everyday situations that may arise in later life.

| Ancient Runes
Ancient Runes is the study of ancient symbols in the wizarding and muggle worlds. Ancient Runes were at first in Germanic languages, before the Latin alphabet and for several uses thereafter. There are several types of Runes, such as the Younger and Elder Futhark.
A useful subject if in later life you are to come across codes and inscriptions, and well taught to willing pupils, as it is not the most interesting subject to some pupils.

| Moaning Myrtles Bathroom
Moaning Myrtle, a ghost of a student killed over one hundred and fifty years ago haunts this girl's bathroom and is infamous among past and present students alike. This bathroom is nearly always flooded, and anything can set Myrtle off crying, many students make her cry on purpose by saying mean things and being horrible to her.
This bathroom also contains the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, on a small tap that doesn't work with a serpent engraved into it. It can be opened by someone commanding in Parseltongue.

| Boys Bathroom
Rather like the girl's bathroom the boys bathroom lacks a loony ghost. In fact, it's more of an unisex bathroom, as most girls use this bathroom instead of facing Myrtle. Well, they do when the staff aren't looking... and avoiding Myrtle may just be an excuse...

| Hospital Wing
For minor-medium injuries the Hospital Ward is open. Warm and usually bright the nurse is always on hand to help students and staff members in a bit of a scrape, and won't ask too many questions.
It is basically a large stone room, like the rest of the castle, with large double doors opening into it. Lined with around ten freshly made-up beds on each side, with removable screens it is hardly known for it's secrecy surrounding injuries.
Students with a serious and long term illness/injury are transferred to St Mungos however.

| Charms
Charms is a very popular class at Hogwarts. Known for the fun and useful spells learned here, students tend to think of it as an informal subject, there is always lots of fun to be had, especially with spells such as 'Tickling Charms'. The room is bright and lined with stages of stacked desks, with a large space on the floor for more space-consuming Charms and a teacher's desk underneath the large window which looks down upon the green lawns.

| The Trophy Room
The Trophy room is filled with all the awards students have, and can win throughout their school careers. Rows of cases of medals, trophies and shields line the room, light glinting technicoloured sparks around the room as it comes in the large window.

| Armour Gallery
The Armour Gallery is a smallish room stuffed full of Suits of Armour. Once you enter, you are literally surrounded by these things. Creepy to some people, but a great place for playing hide and seek, or discussing something private, everything in here is always covered by a layer of thick dust, so those who enter usually have to brush their clothes if they bash against something.
Most of the Suits are old and rusty, some with odd arms and legs missing, as they were never restored after the Great Battle. Chameleon Ghouls often inhabit this room, as it offers a great opportunity to cause trouble.

| Occlumency
Occlumency is the art of protecting your mind against external sources penetrating it and "Reading it like a book." The partner art is Legilimency, which students must learn to protect themselves again. It is a mainstream subject for all year groups now, although it is a very advanced form of magic. Very useful if students wish to follow career paths high up in the Ministry or just become an Auror or an Unspeakable, as well as it's everyday use in society where one might be vulnerable around untrustworthy people.

| Library
The Hogwarts Library is as huge as it always was, thousands of books all stacked neatly upon shelves in order by the librarian. You are not allowed to talk here, or make any noise whatsoever really, and if you even try to deface the books they will resort to violent methods against you, though this can be got round by some crafty students.

| Arithmancy
Arithmancy is the study of the magical properties of numbers and their uses in symbolism and everyday life. This subject is in depth and interesting, as it shows a way of living life using charts and numbers, a must for any supersticious person.
Muggles call this numerology and wizards use the life charts and such for the same results muggles use horoscopes for.

| Mirror of Erised
The mirror of Erised shows the persons greatest desires. A window into the soul it shows not what you think you want, but your deepest darkest desire. 'Erised' is actually 'Desire' spelled backwards.
This room is very nondescript, and very hard to spot inthe hallways, with a very narrow door.
"It does not do to dwell on dreams" Dumbledore famously said, and this is all the mirror will ever show you, dreams, not reality, and many can waste away before it.
This room is always locked now, the regime don't want students getting ideas...

| Defence Against the Dark Arts
The Dark Arts class is mandatory for all students as in line with the regime. It teaches the essential spells for combating evils.

| Prefects Bathroom
The Prefects Bathroom is the most lavish in the entire school. It has a password, which is only known to Quidditch Captains and Prefects, although it won't stop other people entering if they know the password.
It is a long rectangular swimming pool, with hundreds of taps at one end, which, when turned will start to pour out different kinds of bubble bath, from football sized orange globes to an intoxicating purple one.

| Transfiguration
Transfiguration is possibly the most advanced branch of magic students will study at Hogwarts. It's not quite as simple as just flicking a wand and turning a match into a needle, but lots of theory must be studied for success. Students in sixth and seventh year learn how to preform transfiguration on humans, and learn about the more specific aspects of the laws that govern the subject.

| General Common Room
The General Common Room is a place where students from different houses can come to socialize in a setting not unlike their own common rooms. Whether is meeting new people, or copying homework everyone is welcome in this common room all the time, as the door is never locked.

The common room located in the towers and is only accessible by true students of the house, with a portrait of 'The Fat Lady' guarding the entrance.

| Ravenclaw Common Room (3 sub-boards)
Only students put into this house may enter and the entrance is in polished wall with a broze eagle knocker who decides who gets in and out with tricky riddles.
The common room also used to be up in the towers, but as they were mostly destroyed in the great battle.

| Headteacher's Office
The Headteachers office is hidden behind a large gargoyle who will defend it, as long as the entrant doesn't have the password. The students then have to climb up a steep, winding stairway until they come to a dark wooden door.
The actual office itself is a large oval shape, with two windows at the head of the room which cast light around. Portraits of past headteachers line the walls, as they all give guidance to the current headteacher in times of need. In an alcove there also lies the Sorting Hat and the Sword of Godric Gryffindor, both important reminders of the events of old and important for the continuation of the school.
The Headteacher can usually be found here, so drop in if you have any worries.

| Room of Requirement (1 sub-board)
Also known as the 'Come and Go Room' the Room of Requirement is practically essential to the survival of misbehaving students who need to hide, and those who are just in need. It is situated on the Seventh Floor, opposite the tapestry of the dancing trolls but can only be found by whoever is seeking it. It can be unplottable should the occupant wish it to be, and when someone is inside, no one else can enter without their permission. This is where the DA practices are held, among other illicit activities.

| School Gates
The School Gates are located about a quarter of a mile away from the actual school itself, leading up to the castle with a wide road, and down to Hogsmeade with the same. They used to be quite something, Gargoyles at each side and the wrought iron a deep black with the stone walls perfect and the protective enchantments strongly in place.
However, now in it's place, is left a shadow of what used to be. The iron is bent out of shape and the thick layer of paint has come off, leaving the metal to the elements. The Gargoyles are no more, primarily destroyed in the battle with some fighters gone too far out from the castle, and then again by the more rebellious pupils of the school. The stone walls are crumbling and the enchantments barely remain, a ripped cloak almost, by chance protecting a minuscule patch of air. Being here, is the first step of knowing Hogwarts has gone downhill.

| Herbology
Herbology is the study of Magical and Mundane plants and fungi. In Herbology, students learn to care for and utilize plants, and learn about their magical properties, and what they are used for. Many plants provide ingredients for Potions and medicine, while others have magical effects of their own right.
As it has a strong link with the subject of Potions, Herbology is popular amongst the students taking an interest in the regime, and those with a strong force against it who want to 'beat the bad guys'.

| Courtyard
The main courtyard sits in the middle of the school, with entrances from the open hallways framing it. A light space a large archway opens onto a wide path leading down to the lake. Hedges and trees used to grow here, with vegetation growing through the cracks in the tiles but no more, as they all reacted to the changes to the world.

| Unofficial Quidditch Pitch// Lawn
Students use this as a general relaxation area, away from the watchful eye of those in power and it is perhaps one of the most relaxed places in the grounds. Students also like to fly around here, unless they get caught and usually friendly groups like to host illegal quidditch matches.

| Black Lake
The black lake is a vast stretch of water that stretches from the shore, a short walk away from the castle, to the high mountains. It is the home to several dangerous creatures, such as the giant squid and the merpeople. If you dare, swim in the icy waters, but please stay in the shallow parts and don't go too far underwater... the management don't want any "accidents" happening...

| Mountain Range
The Mountain Range is a beautiful place to watch the last rays of the day hide and le the night's sky roll in with pride. Climbing to the high peaks to have a relaxing time and have a sun kissed profile.

| Whomping Willow
The Whomping Willow is an ancient tree that has been residing on the Hogwarts Grounds for over one hundred and fifty years, but has remained unharmed through many events.
If you poke it's trunk it will immediately paralyze and reveal the secret tunnel, leading to the Shrieking Shack.

| Forbidden Forest
The Dark Forest is quite a scary prospect for most students. Known since forever as 'Forbidden' because of the dangerous creatures that reside there, only the bravest- or most foolish students enter there.
It is the home to many species of mythical beast such as the respectful Centaurs, the dazzling Unicorns and the frightful Acromantula, to name a few, but sometimes it is another type of monster you need to fear, as werewolves and vampires can never be far from the dark confines of the trees.

| Quidditch Pitch
Although Quidditch is banned at Hogwarts now, the pitch is still there, in somewhat a state of disrepair. The stands are ripped and the hoops are rusted, with the gates closed, and only a few students are allowed in, though it doesn't stop the others.

| Madam Puddifoot's
Madam Puddifoot's can be seen on the way into Hogsmeade, and is usually avoided like the plague by many teenage boys, and by the slightly less lovey-dovey girls. Inside waits dainty china teacups, sickly buns and tea for young couples in the first, mad, stages of love to gaze into each others eyes over. Some people do genuinely come here for the teas and standard of the food, but they are few and far between as most are scare away by the garish pink Valentines decorations, which seem to be permanent.

| Honeydukes
Honeydukes sweet shop is a haven for those pupils with a sweet tooth. Every type of sweet imaginable is available here, and make sure to check out those new Sugar Quills, as well as the Cockroach Clusters and those infamous muggle Sherbet Lemons! A secret passageway also leads into the cellar from the school, meaning that many of the illicit parties are often fuelled by more sweets than Firewhisky- unless, of course, Honeydukes are keeping a store that week.
The interior is colourful, you cannot even see a tiny part of the wall, as the counters will not hold the amount of offers available to the consumer. On weekends in Hogsmeade, it can get uncomfortably cramped for space, but most people will get out alive, with or without the sweets.

| The Three Broomsticks
A small but popular pub in the middle of Hogsmeade it is always crowded and smelling of the alcoholic beverages consumed within it's confines. A friendly atmosphere always awaits those who come here, and Hogwarts students are usually given, a sort of bubble to be in, as the cultures of them and those in the village can be somewhat different in many ways. Students should, however be wary of who they are seen with and what they are seen doing with them here, 'cause gossip spreads like wildfire, especially when the people have had a little too much to drink.

| The Hog's Head
The Hogs Head is the less popular pub in Hogsmeade. It is nowhere near as accomadating as the Three Broomsticks, but for an unusual person, or one not wishing to be seen or recognized it is the perfect place. The regulars here are few and far between, travellers such as Goblins and Hags bringing in much of the trade, and for a brave student to stumble in usually causes a stir. Many illicit deals are struck and paid here amongst covering of dust and cloaks, but be warned, if you ever want to drink here, bring your own glass and be prepared for the smell!

| The Shrieking Shack
Over the years the Shrieking Shack has earned the title of 'The most haunted house in Britain' because of the terrible screams erupting from it once every month. Originally used as a shelter for Remus Lupin to make the monthly transformation into a werewolf it has become somewhat of an iconic place for the students, many daring to go where no sane person has gone before and where no sane person would ever wish to go back to.
The interior of the shack can be described as ragged, old and mouldy. Because of the violent tempers of werewolves and the painful transformation, much of the furniture is ripped, if not destroyed completely, giving a ghostly feel to it, making it feel like if you listened hard enough, you could hear the screams again.
Several parties take place here sometimes, though always under the risk of an attack, so people make sure to scratch up on some astronomy when planning it.
