Night of Horrors (Part Two) [Open]
« Thread Started on Aug 3, 2009, 12:35pm »

T'was the first night of school, when all through the castle
not a creature was stirring, not even a... Well you get the idea.
Draco Malfoy's day had started off well enough. The morning had been alright.

Breakfast with his mother and father wasn't terribly bad. It had all been rather routine even the part when his father gripped his forearm before excusing himself from the table and returning in time only say a final good bye to his son before the boy and his wife apparated to the train station (right to the platform, no point in bumping into muggles if you didn't have to), before jumping onto the Hogwarts Express then getting to the school.

The feast wasn't terribly bad either, the food had been tolerable and the first years were their usual annoying selves. Always expecting to be part of the group in an instant. Sure, some may have parents and last names that afforded them the right to be a little above every other child (just has Draco's had), but they still needed to work their way into the good graces of the older students. It didn't take them long to find their places though. Knowing who was better than whom and when and how to work up to it. Though despite Slytherin first years being better than every other first year, Draco still didn't feel particularly interested in dealing with them for the entirity of the evening.

Having Anna take the reigns on that one, he left them to it and made his way out onto the grounds for a work. Unfortunately that was hardly the comforting, calming expedition he had expected it to be. No, Draco Malfoy had the misfortune of bumping into one of Gryffindor's most annoying little prizes. The Potter girl that everyone knew to be the perfect little girl was in reality a horrible little nightmarish beast. It was a fact that Draco had found out first hand when she practically pushed him into the lake when he had clearly done nothing to deserve it.

Getting back to the common room left him with a nice little chat with none other than Anna herself. Although it left Draco feeling a little better, a trip to the astronomy tower with his own bottle of firewhisky was too good to refuse. Especially since he had been reminded of the time he had to save Anna from a similar situation.

It was late. She didn't know how late, but it was late. She had been on that train for the 11 time in her life, and she was dying on some excitement. The train had been boring, and she had been tempted to just transport herself to the front gates and wait for someone to open them. It would be much more interesting than her train ride. And then after the train ride of hell, she had to endure the old hag going on about the same shit, the usual rubbish about uniting against a cause. What a hunk of bollocks. If she wanted to be like her parents, she fucking would, but, honestly, she had no intention of it. the more trouble she can cause, the better, and the more fear she can install, the happier she would be.

She had long ago left the hall, before they were dismissed, and headed to her room, looking for any kinda off alcohol. She spied some muggle vodka that she forgot she packed, and pulled it out, grinning. Screwing off the cap, she glanced around, before taking a long gulp. Not that anyone would know what she was drinking, or care either way. What Robynn did around this school was looked past, was her own business. Everyone knew this, and they also knew not to grass her in, even if the teachers did know it was her, because they'd be in for a hefty hexing if she found out. Which, there was no chance she wouldn't, she knew eveything.

And now, Robynn was buzzed. Not drunk, no not nearly, it took more than a quarter of a litre to get her drunk, and she stood up, heading out of her room and up to the astronomy tower, bottle still in hand. She bumped into a few students on the way up the stairs, and smiled, most of them instantly knowing he had been drinking. She only smiled at people who were not her friends when she was tipsy, or drunk. A group of first years pushed past her, and she frowned, wondering what they were doing out this late, and shrugged, barking at them to get back to their dorms before she hexes them into tomorrow, before climbing the winding stairs that led to the astronomy tower. She often headed up here when she was drinking, it was somewhere quiet that she could hang about with no one to annoy her but her friends. Pushing the door open, her eyes widened, and she smiled, clapping the boys back and grinning. "Draco! Hey Cutie! Whats wrong?" she giggled, slinging her arm around his shoulder and taking a swing of the alcohol in her hand and grinning.

Hearing the door open behind him with a foreboding creek, Draco turned suddenly, eye wide with hopes that it wasn't a teacher. He knew that it would not do to get caught. Especially since it was him and he had his reputation to protect. Fortunately it was only Robyn and Draco felt himself instantly relax when it was clear that she was alone. Turning back to his bottle, he unscrewed the lid and took a swig of it. He did like firewhisky. He wasn't much of a drinker but he did like the way it burned as it went down his throat. Though personally he was fonder of wine and port than this stuff, but it served its purpose and that was enough to keep a small amount lying around.

What's wrong?, Draco raised an eyebrow at the question. Why did something need to be wrong for him to be on the Astronomy tower in the middle of the night? Oh that's right, this was Robyn and she knew him better than anyone at this school
. Perhaps better than he might know himself.. Nah, that'd be a little too much. Either way, she knew he wasn't much of a drinker which he supposed was enough reason for her question.

"Nothing's... wrong. I just thought I deserved a little break,"
he explained, only half expecting her to retort with the fact that school had only just begun and it was much too early to require a break therefore bringing them back to the conclusion that something was wrong and that he was a horrible liar when he didn't back up his claims with proper evidence.

Gryfindors were always annoying. Longbottom would always need to be weakened and Potter would always need to be taken own a peg or two. Draco was used to this and truth be told, he had dealt with the Gryfindors of his year for so long and so thoroughly that he could carry own their back and forth bickering and occasional hex with his eyes closed. The newer addition to his well protected little world was an entirely different story.

Lily was annoying and smarter than most Gryfindor (as much as he hated to admit even that much). She threw his little world off balance with barely any effort and he hated that. He wanted so much to get her back in some way and to be even but he couldn't quite figure out why. Not to mention the scene at the lake when she had manage to get some of his uniform from him. He had practically let her and he couldn't quite find an excuse for it. Why did he let her get to him? How did she get so close.. So very close... with those seductive eyes and that teasing tone. No. No, he had to stop there. Those thoughts would do him no good. They were vile. Yes, vile and disgusting and should be ignored... At least that was what he tried to tell himself.

"What's wrong with you?" Draco asked, with full intentions of diverting the conversation in order to avoid having to explain the whole 'Lily' fiasco to the girl. He had eyed her drink and had a grimace for a quick second when he recognised it as a muggle brand of vodka. He had never tried the stuff but when one is raised to hate, one can not be selective about it. It was a quick and uncontrollable reaction but at least it only lasted a fraction of a second.

"A little break?" she replied skeptically, eyebrow raised. It was the first day of term, he couldn't possible be needing a break. He was drinking. Something Draco rarely did without inviting her, or being in a big group. Which meant, something was going on, and he was lying to her. That, honestly, didn;y suprise her. He lied all the time, so the girl was used to picking out when he was lying. Like, he couldn't look her in the eyes and the tone of his voice. It was really only her that noticed, he was usually a good liar, but she ad been his friend for six years, and his best friend for more than four, so she knew him inside out basically.

She opened her mouth, before scowling, and pulling out a packet of cigarettes, something that was banned at Hogwarts, just like the alcohol, but not that that stopped her. Using her wand, she sparked up, taking a long draw and blowing into the older boy's face. "You're lying to me Draco." she warned, slugging back the alcohol, and inhaling the smoke from the cigarette hanging loosely between her fingers, thinking about how much she missed this place. Being stuck at home had never been a good thing for Robynn. She had grown up resenting her parents, never hvaing seen them for mroe than a few days once she was seven. And it had taken effect. She had missed being able to do what she wanted, when she wants, without having to perform a charm on her parents to be able to do it.

She laughed at the grimance on his face, the giggle sounding rather girlish, which was rare for Robyn. She wasn't a girlish person, far from it actually, well, in the way she acted at least. Her clothes were girlish, in a lot of ways, and so was her body, having gorgeous curves. She hugged the boy, almost falling over. There was just over a quarter of the vodka left, and she was officially drunk. She offered the rest to Draco, knowing he wouldn't take it, but knowing she'd make him. Plus, that quarter would get him drunk, more than easily. Vodka was more potent than any Wizarding alcohol, so he was, technically a lightweight. She feel to the floor, legs stretched out infront of her, leaning on the wall, and smiling up at Draco, inhaling the last of her cigarette and flicking it over the edge of the tower, just missing Draco's arm. "ME? I'm just FABULOUS!" she laughed, unzipping her jumper.

Draco was well aware of the fact that she could see the signs. He wasn't quite himself and she of all people would notice but he didn't care. He knew he was fairly safe to show even an ounce of who he really was with her. She had known him all these years and if she just hadn't to have been pretending to be this person and betray him then he would just have to deal with it. Being who he was, it was never safe to get too close to anyone but life like that was no life at all. Developing friendships and having people you could trust was inevitable and Robyn happened to be one of them. Robyn and Skye and even Anna. Perhaps even Blaise and maybe Pansy but Draco felt he was better off avoiding at girl. She was at about the same level at Crabbe and Goyle (whom, thankfully, he didn't need to keep around as much anymore).

"Surprise, surprise, Draco Malfoy tells lies. Shall I call the Prophet?" he asked sarcastically with a smirk. He was just messing around with her but there was definitely an ulterior motive there. He was attempting to avoid that conversation and keep from having to tell her about it. It just wasn't acceptable. Should he have to explain what that wretched girl did this evening, he would have to actually stop and think about his own actions and how in Merlin's name she had got so damn close without getting hexed to oblivion (though that part could be explained away by rules and how easily he could get in trouble for it, especially with her mother being a professor and all). Maybe he did like her in some twisted way but that fact alone was a million times worse than anything a Gryfindor could do to him... And probably will if Potter, the boy, found out that his arch enemy had a bit of a thing for his little sister. Draco would expect a fate worse than death should he ever find out. That was perhaps more of his reason for drinking tonight. It wasn't really the horrible evening, it was the risk of getting much too close to a Gryfindor blood traitor. The only excuse that could salvage this solution was to decide that perhaps it wasn't really her he liked. That perhaps it was just his hormones, in which case, the only reasonable solution seemed to be to find a distraction. He knew Robyn might not want that but she would have been his first choice anyway. He did like her even if she insisted it was weird with him. Perhaps Skye, no. He had have to really consider his options before even attempting that one.

"I know," Draco added, more as a random throw away statement than everything. She was pretty fabulous. He did still like Robyn a little more than he should but that ship had sailed a long time ago and he knew that. Taking another sip of his firewhisky, he kept in mind not to have too much. He wouldn't usually go too far anyway but now it was particularly important considering the girl could no doubt get a bit drunk and he would have to make sure they got back to the common room in time. He would have to be of sound mind to do that and he could easily manage an evening like that, as long as she could keep him distracted from his own thoughts.

The boy ignored her first statement, and she sighed, used to it. Anything that didn't suit him, he ignored it, especially if it made him look bad. And this situation did. Robyn didn't need an excuse to be breaking the rules, and drinking herself stupid on the first night of school. However, Draco did. He rarely drank, so, looking at the situation, something must have happened to drive him to drinking, on his own and everything. and Robyn was determined to find out. If he wanted to be miserable and not talk about it, he should find someone to be miserable where no one would find him. Not on the astronomy tower. It was obvious that she would find him.

She laughed, a comeback already on the tip of her tongue. She was good at that, having comebacks right there. It was habit, knowing what to say, and when to say it to cause the biggest reaction. True, no one really dared say anything to her that wasn't half-decent, but there was a few who thought they were tougher, braver. They were stupid people. "Yes, darling, I will. Tell them your hiding something. They'll be all over you then." The son of Lucius Malfoy was a big deal, the man himself being almost famous in his own way, everybody knowing him. So Draco Malfoy hiding something was something a lot of people around here would like to know about. Draco hated bad publicity, so it would drive him nuts. She knew that, now that he knew she knew he was hiding something, he'd tell her, well, after stalling anyway.

She laughed at his statement, and, in her drunken state, immediately registered it as a come-on. The confusion she would normally have felt if this happened never appeared, and she pulled herself to her feet, hugging the boy from behind, resting her head on his back. She pushed the alcohol in her hands, into his, knowing he had never tried it, and smiling. "Goo onnnnn" she slurred, and swivelled so that she was hugging him and facing his face at the same time, smiling. Her drunken state caused her not to realise how close to his face she really was.

Did yooo know thaa I've no had any since like, ermm, uhmm, I forgot." She laughed, slurring her words, referring to the last time she had sex. She'd slept with Draco before, a few times when they were dating, but never afterwards, although she knew it was bound to happen some day. She'd slept with most of thee good looking Slytherin boys, and, to her dismay, a few boys from other houses, well, apart from Gryffindor, she'd always managed to stay away from them.

"Oh sure, they'd readily kick Longbottom off the front page for an article of Draco Malfoy and his secrets. I don't think they'd even have enough parchment for all of it," he replied jokingly. Draco had enough talent for snide remarks and cruel insinuations but with Robyn, it was never meant to hurt. It was always just for a laugh and he liked that. He knew he could relax a little more and simply be himself. There was no expectations with her and that was exactly what he needed. Though there was still the problem of never being able to get too close to her (or least never letting his father find out) and all because of who her parents were. It annoyed him to no end but Draco knew better than to rebel against that. No, good little Draco Malfoy would always do what his father commanded, he would always do the expected. Really, it was a shock how he could still remain fairly unpredictable when his life was run by rules to follow and harsh judgments made at every turn.

Draco gave another grimace when the bottle was shoved into his unwiling hands. It would would be a distraction at least, a way to keep the conversation from being too serious. Holding it with a disgusted look he stayed fairly still for a moment, a task that Robyn in her state probably wouldn't have been able to pull off. He looked as though he had been told to take a nice hefty dose of hemlock. Turning to her for confirmation of her meaning (which in truth was not needed), he hoped she would take it back and keep him from having to try the stuff. Though what he hadn't expected was how close she had gotten.

Draco Malfoy had never really tried the hard stuff. Wine went down too easily and port was only barely harsher. Even his firewhiskey was charmed to go down a little easier whilst retained the full quality of its taste. Either way, as soon as he turned to her, his features had softened. Draco had always had a soft spot for his friend, despite not letting it be known when in the company of others. Though having her that close made things a little clearer. With the thoughts that inevitably crossed his mind, it was clear that the only reason that Potter girl had gotten that close to him, or at least the reason he had let her, was not caused by any feelings he might have had (because he was fairly convinced he didn't have any, especially for her). With Robyn causing the same sort of reaction, it was clear the cause of it was simply hormones. Something that unfortunately, could not be avoided in teenager males. Biting his lower lip for a second, he did all he could to not do anything he would no doubt regret.

Turning back quickly he took a good swig of her vodka. There, that would keep him distracted for a-Damn that burns, Draco thought, staring at the bottle again as though he was uncertain it was even safe to consume.

"It's vile, I honestly have no idea how you can drink that," he said, handing it back to her. It was strong and it burned going down and all Draco could do to salvage his fragile esophagus was to drink some more of his charmed firewhisky and hope the aftertaste would fade quickly.

"Any what?" Draco asked, turning to her again, looking completely oblivious since he had been lost in his own thoughts. There could have been a number of things she might have been referring to and far be it from him to simply assume it would be the one thing he had on his mind for most of the day. What were the chances of that anyway?

She growled at him jokingly as he reeled off a sarcastic reply, smacking him lightly on the arm, and replying with an "OI! don't give me any of that back talk young man." acting like an adult, before bursting out into giggles, unable to keep up the façade for even a minute.

Suddenly growing serious, Robyn sighed, her head falling, looking to the ground. "Why wont you tell me?" She asked quietly. She was never quiet and timid around anyone other than Draco, but he knew her better than anyone, and showing him her, granted it was very small, soft side was something that had taken her years to do. It was only last year that the young girl had broken down in tears, sick of having her parents choices looming over her. It had been when Draco's parents had met her, writing her off immediately as some death eater wannabe poser, and she had cracked, crying and yelling and screaming at Draco back at school, not because she was mad at him, but she was mad at herself, for crying, and she was mad at her parents. Since then, Draco had been able to see her soft side, and she used that to her advantage, in this case, to get him to talk.

A smile crossed her lips and she registered the look on Draco's face, and his words, as he handed the drink back to her, and she reached to take it. "Very easily. You get used to it. I like the hard stuff." she winked at him, spinning in circles, arms out to her sides. The vodka bottle slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground with a smash, and teh rest of the liquid spilling out all over the floor. She looked at it for a second, before looking up at Draco with a sheepish grin on her face. "Oopzie?"

She giggled at his question, reaching up and flicking his nose, before gripping onto his shoulders to keep herself steady. She had really had to much to drink, and it was obvious in her flirting, her lack of balance and her slightly slurred words. She only slurred er words if she was really drunk. "Sexx silllly" She laughed, falling into him, hands still on his shoulders, as the ground tipped, well, in her mind it did. She squeeked, a very girly noise, before looking up into Draco's eyes, her own widening as she realise how close to him she really was and how, in this drunken state, she didn't want to move away.

"You're one to talk, Miss I have an answer to everything," he added quietly with a smirk. It was true though, Robyn always seem to have the last word in every situation and she always had an opinion and was always ready to share it. Draco didn't mind though, they had hardly had a really argument about anything. Most of the time it was just friendly bickering or funny insults made in jest.

"Because it's a 'guy' thing. You wouldn't understand," Draco said without even giving it a second thought before taking another swig of his drink. He knew that if he took even a second to contemplate his answer, she would only push even more. Besides, it was sort of true in a way and he definitely couldn't talk to her about it. Either way, it was all in the past and he didn't feel the need to rehash that whole incident all over again. Having it in his mind was torment enough without having Robyn getting in on the action.

Though Draco knew this wasn't the end of it. He had a real weakness for her when she got quiet like this. She hadn't always done it but whenever she did, she'd get his full and complete attention, along with a high chance of him giving in to whatever it was she wanted. In fact, he could remember when it all started. The first time he had ever seen her with her guard down was when he saw her cry. His parents and met her and not liked who her parents were. The child of an auror in Slytherin? That was like a death eater in Gryffindor, it wasn't impossible but it was definitely rare. Although he'd tell her almost anything when she was like this, this wasn't something he was going to talk to a girl about. Besides, what was he going to say? 'No, I'm fine. I've just really been wanting sex today.' No, that wouldn't do at all.

Draco, jumped just slightly at the sound of the bottle crashing to the ground unexpectedly. Draco only narrowed his eyes at her, not angrily, more in amusement of how clumsy she could get when she was drunk. Even Anna was never as bad as Robyn could be. Not that he minded though, he had no problems with it at all, expect for the noise attracting professors. There was usually never anyone in the astronomy tower at night unless there was a class so there was hardly any chance of anyone wandering in and stumbling upon this little scene.

Pulling out his wand, he waved it over the mess that Robyn had made, immediately causing it all to vanish. She seemed to have had enough anyway so it was hardly a big loss. Draco's eyes might have widen when she spoke again but he had already been in that train of thought so he managed to keep his stoic impression with ease. This wasn't going to be easy if he intended to keep this strictly platonic. All Draco could do was say nothing and hope for the best.
