A Coward? Never! [Skye] « Thread Started on Aug 10, 2009, 8:44am »
Skulking about? No, no. That was not what he was doing. Draco Malfoy, hiding in dark corners being a regular doer of misdeeds, never! He may not be the friendliest of individuals but even that was a little below his terribly high standards. Hell, even his broom couldn't get him quite that high.
Though if one should question his motives, they would no doubt come up empty handed. Draco Malfoy was not one to give away his secrets willingly or easily. Though in this case he, as rare as these occasions were, was not up to anything terribly cruel or in need or suspicion. The boy was only attempting to avoid company and despite having to resort to cowering in a particularly shady corner of the dungeons behind a lone statue in its own little nook of the quiet, dark and damp hallway, Draco still felt good about his decision. He had after all been successful in his endeavour thus far. Course, there were exceptions to his avoidance of others, the female gender being the main focus of this new mission. There was Robyn and even Anna whom he was certain he could tolerate the presence of, though all in all, total isolation seemed to be the easier route to take.
With book in hand, Draco continued to read his text book, borrowing the dim light from the hallway and having a new found appreciation for his particularly good night vision. With the book being the only thing keeping him from going stark raving mad, Draco found himself absorbing the lessons in each chapter rather quickly. His own studying becoming more efficient than usual. Perhaps this wasn't such a bad idea after all. Sure, he seemed to require more breaks from his book but it seemed like it might be something to look into for the future. Especially with his final year coming up next.
Shoulders uncharacteristically hunched, his herbology textbook was all that occupied his mind and that was exactly how he wanted it, what with all that had been going on lately. This was a sort of break for him, or perhaps a state of mind he was starting to prefer.
Being that he was so engrossed in his book, Draco was slowly letting go of the things around him. He had been taught to pay special attention to the things around him in order to avoid being double crossed or even attacked unexpectedly but feeling safe in his own little corner of the world, he was slowly starting to forget the words of his father and get too far lost in his book to notice the few people then wandered past, going about their business, completely oblivious to his very presence there.
Edit: Sorry, missed out the last two paragraphs of that post.
